The creation of Adam; Afro version

A multidisciplinary self taught visual artist creating drawings and works that require the fusion 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional art forms usually fusing fine oil paints and sand in paintings that focus on Afrocentrism and Pan-Africanism also fusing metal cuts on panel and making photorealistic paintings on them that talk about my life story as well as utilizing poetic descriptions for them. He is from Afikpo north, in Ebonyi state, Nigeria. Born on the 14 August 1999. He grew up learning how to draw through practice and drawing of diagrams of school assignments. At a tender age, he was engrossed by comic art. In 2017, he started to create art again not just for subsistent reasons but for commercial purposes. He began with the pen, day by day he practiced, observed and found the works of other artists and kept improving as a pen artist and gently got to learn about realism with the pencil and then gradually into the painting. And in 2018, he won the Anbukraft Peace poster competition, which was the first time he attended an exhibition. He kept improving in my art as time past. In 2019, he participated in the "life in my city" art festival, a national art competition involving different artists in the country. And he made it to the top 100 artists who later exhibited at the grand finale at Enugu Nigeria. In 2019, he came 3rd at a talent hunt preceded by a singer and a rapper. In February 2020, he became a campus ambassador for TECNO mobile Nigeria, a mobile phone brand, following a talent hunt organized by them.

In his art, the use of sand is mainly focused on general human history as it is believed that humans were made from sand, but using this to create afro hair and specifically African soil makes it mostly about African descent. Each piece has expressive significance shown by the subject in question and written in poems. He sees art differently. He feels it shouldn't be just seen, I think art should be felt, both mentally and physically even on a 2 dimensional surface. So I introduce a bit of 3 dimensionality to a 2 dimensional painting.

Flos Carnis

Caroline Loftus. The sun is my enlarger, and plants are my muse. My creative process heavily involves gathering inspiration from my surrounding natural environment. Silver gelatin photographic paper is my canvas on which objects are placed, and an unrepeatable image is exposed under the sun. Working in a cameraless photographic process brings a lot of unknowns. With lumens, what normally is controlled through aperture, exposure, and chemistry, is unpredictable. The process of creating each lumen is meditative. I focus on my hands; how they feel, what they look like, the way they move. What I feel and think determines my creative freedom. I am not my body, and neither are you. Every day I challenge myself to think innovatively about the work I create. I push through the boundaries of photographic paper by using anything containing pigment; from Hawaiian Punch to Chaga, and most recently, RIT Dye. The addition of these pigments permanently stains the photographic paper, preserving the colors that were once lost to the chemistry that makes it light safe. Focusing on the process instead of the outcome of my work is liberating. I am grateful for each quiet moment that I am allowed a deeper breath, where time slows, and I connect with myself on a level far greater than physical. In each of these moments, I spend time observing my natural surroundings, picking plants most would discard or leave unnoticed. I want to thank the earth through my work; creating an image manipulated by nature.

Born and raised in a city which was the birthplace of the ancient romantic Chu era and the historic revolution of China, Peng Qi bares the exquisite, creative, and pioneering gene. In his artwork, he uses his own unique language and skills to acknowledge the vicissitudes of human life as well as those of the world surrounding him.

Peng Qi is passionate about reflecting our modern digital and network age on the canvas. He uses his masterful skills to generate virtual and photoelectric color effects that do not exist in the natural world. Peng Qi attempts to break through the perceived three-dimensional space and ventures into the higher dimensions, leading the viewer to contemplate the mysterious nature of the universe.

Peng Qi works passionately to unlock new ways to create contemporary art that bears the mark of the new age. He believes, that the cooperation, symbiosis, and co-evolution with technology is an inevitable trend and should be embraced. The combination and cooperation between humans and artificial intelligence, like a man in a self-driving car, for instance, will allow for the human strategic intellect to complement the machines precise ability to follow instructions harmoniously marking an important shift in the evolution of art history. The combination of new technology and traditional culture will bring the ancient art a new life.

Peng Qi’s artworks have been exhibited worldwide, collected by museums, private collectors, galleries and organizations from the United States, Europe, and Southeast Asia. When not painting in the studio and teaching fine arts at the Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication, Peng Qi travels the world to admire the diverse cultures in different countries and also allocates time to mentor young artists, encouraging them to find their own unique voice.

For Peng Qi, art is a religion, whose intricacies and depth are more than the lay man could even comprehend. Find him on Instagram: www.instagram.com/pengqiart or by email: pengqiart@outlook.com
